MGC Graduation Celebration Recognizes Exceptional Faculty



At the annual Vanderbilt Master of Genetic Counseling (MGC) graduation celebration, several MGC faculty were honored with awards. Congratulations to the following educators:


Clinical supervisor Meredith Gerhart, MS, CGC, won the Outstanding Supervisor of the Year Award, given to the faculty member who demonstrates exceptional clinical supervision through intentional mentorship, clear guidance, emotional support, and a calm, supportive presence that fosters student growth, confidence, and success in the clinical setting.

Clinical supervisor Sam Stover, MS, CGC, won the VGI Excellence in Mentorship Award, given to the faculty member who demonstrates outstanding commitment to mentoring students through thoughtful guidance, professional leadership, and dedicated support, while empowering future genetic counselors through teaching, mentorship, and investment in their personal and professional success.

 

Course director Karigynn Chaimson, MS, MGC, CGC, won the VGI Excellence in Classroom Education Award, given to the faculty member who goes above and beyond to create a supportive and engaging learning environment, transforms complex concepts into practical and applicable skills for patient care, encourages student confidence and growth, and consistently meets students with empathy, encouragement, and dedication both in and beyond the classroom.
