2013 Entering Class Important Dates and Deadlines

VUnetID Activation

Invitations will start being sent out to activate your VUnetID.

Student Health Insurance

You are required to have health insurance and should ensure that you are covered at all times. Unfortunately, the University plan coverage dates do not coincide with the Medical School start dates. The University plan is in effect from August 12, 2013 to August 11, 2014.
If you need coverage prior to August 12, please complete the Early Medical Student Enrollment Application
If you have other coverage, you may waive the student insurance plan by completing the Student Health Insurance Waiver between June 1, 2013 and August 1, 2013.

Health Forms Due

Deadline for completing the immunization requirements and returning your Health Questionnaire and Immunization History.  Learn more Immunization Requirements

Orientation Information Form Due

To make final preparations for Orientation 2013, please fill out the form below. This includes your order for your white coat and scrubs. Please contact the Office of Student Events with questions at (615) 322-5007. Use the link below to submit your information no later than Friday, June 15.

Transcripts Required for Matriculation

It is imperative that Vanderbilt has a complete record of your undergraduate and/or graduate preparation prior to your matriculation to medical school.  Forward an official final transcript with degree awarded with date of graduation by July 1, 2013. Send transcript to: Office of Medical School Admissions, 215 Light Hall, Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, Nashville, TN 37232-0685.Transcripts sent to AMCAS during the application process do not fulfill this requirement. MSTP students will submit an additional transcript to the MSTP office.

If your undergraduate institution is unable to comply with our July 1, 2013 deadline, then obtain a letter from the registrar indicating that you have completed all requirements and will receive a final transcript when they are available at your university.

Change of Address

Any changes in your mailing address and telephone number should immediately be provided to AMCAS and the Office of Admissions, Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. This is particularly important during the summer months prior to registration and enrollment.

The best case scenario is to be moved in to your Nashville house or apartment by July 16.

Registrar Check In

The Registrar requires that you manage your local address and telephone number through the online YES (Your Enrollment Services) system. (Basic information about YES can be found at http://registrar.vanderbilt.edu/docs/studenthelp.pdf)

As soon as you have a local address, please enter it online. Local addresses must be submitted online no later than Wednesday, July 17, 11:59PM. Any delay in entering your local address can cause a delay in your financial aid disbursement. Emergency Contact Information is also requested.

MOO (Medical Outdoor Orientation)

During the week prior to the start of school, the second year class sponsors MOO trips (Medical Outdoor Orientation) for incoming first year students. Students may choose to go camping, rafting or spelunking as they informally meet the people who will become their lifelong friends.

White Coat Ceremony 

Family and friends gather for the traditional donning of the signature white coats that mark the official entrance into medical school. There will be a livestream available on our homepage.

Deadline for Student Health Insurance

Deadline for completing the Student Health Insurance Waiver. Must be waived annually.

Student Account Agreement

To release student account information, defer payment, and receive other services, complete the Student Account Agreement information found on YES

Due date for Payment of Tuition and Fees

Tuition and fees are reviewed annually by the Vanderbilt Board of Trust and ordinarily established in the spring for the subsequent year. A student is required to pay one-half of the annual tuition and fees by August 14, 2013. Payment made later than August 14 will incur a university late payment charge of 1.5% per month on the past due tuition and fees. Visit www.vanderbilt.edu/stuaccts/ for additional information which includes a prepaid monthly payment option.
