CDB seeks new assistant professor

As part of the Destination Vanderbilt faculty-hiring initiative, the Department of Cell and Developmental Biology at Vanderbilt University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty appointment at the rank of assistant professor; exceptional senior faculty applicants will also be considered. We seek candidates who are using contemporary approaches to address fundamental problems in any area of cell and developmental biology. The successful candidate will join a vibrant and diverse research community. Vanderbilt CDB is positioned in the top tier of NIH funding among all U.S. medical schools and has an exceptional faculty with a strong record of recruiting and promoting junior faculty.

CDB is part of the Basic Sciences of the School of Medicine at Vanderbilt University, which is renowned for its state-of-the-art core facilities. Our collaborative research environment presents opportunities to interact with outstanding groups across both the university and medical center campuses. Incoming faculty will join a supportive peer group and have access to extensive mentoring. Candidates are expected to develop a strong, creative and sustainable research program and participate in the education and training of graduate students and postdoctoral scientists.

Candidates with a Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree and strong record of research achievement are invited to submit an application through Interfolio with the following materials: (i) curriculum vitae, (ii) 2–3 page description of future research plans, (iii) a one-page statement describing how your mentoring philosophy will advance CDB’s strong commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, (iv) reprints of up to three recent publications, and (v) three letters of recommendation to be sent directly by the referees through the Interfolio system.
