The Discovery Circle

Basic Sciences Giving

For decades, Vanderbilt’s basic sciences have been a major player in providing the fundamental research for groundbreaking health care discoveries that are changing lives across the globe. Charitable gifts provide critical support for our students, faculty members, and programs. The Discovery Circle recognizes financial support by those who make annual gifts of $2,500 and up. Alumni who received their degrees within the last 10 years are eligible for membership with a commitment of $1,000 annually. There are four recognition levels:

Member: $2,500 ($1,000 for Recent Graduates)
Benefactor: $5,000-$9,999
Dean's List: $10,000-$24,999
Cornelius Vanderbilt: $25,000-$99,999
Lifetime: $100,000 and up

Recognition/Benefits

  • Invitations to Basic Sciences special events
  • Informative monthly Dean’s e-newsletter

Considering the declines in federal funding and the resulting competition for National Institutes of Health support, philanthropic contributions from individuals like you will be critical to our success. It will offer our researchers the freedom to brainstorm ideas and act on them right away, and it will ensure we can maintain and expand upon our core facilities. Many times, core facilities are the incubators that enable our teams to introduce new approaches, making it imperative that we stay at the forefront of innovation.

Your investment in the basic sciences goes beyond impacting our resources and infrastructure, and ultimately, allows us to make discoveries that improve health care.
