Health Coaching is a service that provides opportunities for you to gain awareness regarding your capacity to create the life you want to live, both now and in the future. I take a positive approach to personal development, focusing on your strengths and using the 9 Dimensions of Wellness model as a framework for generating goals that are meaningful for you. I believe that struggles in life do not mean you are failing in some way or need to be fixed. As a health coach, I view challenges as a fundamental part of being human. My goal is to encourage you to face your challenges, to help you see your capacity to show up for yourself and to move closer to your desired outcomes. In a typical session, I provide one-on-one consultations that provide assistance and guidance to help you gain a better understanding of what health and wellness looks like for you. I will empower you by helping you identify and utilize your personal strengths to achieve your goals. This strength-based approach will enhance your self-acceptance, give you strategies to navigate any transitions you might be facing, and help you thrive. School of Medicine Postdoctoral Research Fellows who are seeking assessment and treatment for mental health issues requiring therapy and/or medication will be referred to a community provider. To help with clarifying the differences between Health Coaching and Therapy, the following table outlines some basic distinctions between these two services.
