Please find a number of Frequently Asked Questions about the 2017 BRET Reunion. You are welcome to email Kate Stuart for answers you do not see here.

 

There is not technically a registration deadline for the event, but on May 15th, the price of registration increases from $50 to $65 per person. We encourage you to register before the May 15th deadline. 

You can register at the Alumni Party with the walk-up price of $65 per person, but we strongly encourage you to register before the evening of the event. This will allow us to adequately plan for this first ever BRET Reunion. 

When you arrive at the Alumni Party, you will receive an admission ticket and an alcoholic drink ticket for each registered guest.

We do not anticipate having shuttle buses available since many events are within walking distance. For those who take advantage of the room block at the Holiday Inn, the hotel provides a shuttle. Details can be found by calling the hotel (615-327-4707) or asking the front desk. 

You may check in at the Student Life Center before the Alumni Party or before the Morning of Discovery. Otherwise, an information desk will be available in the Light Hall lobby for questions, directions, and maps.

Free parking for the Symposium Networking Reception and the Alumni Party are available for alumni in the 25th Avenue Garage. Specific details will be emailed to registrants closer to the date.


We strongly recommend you use the hotel shuttle or walk to Friday’s activities. For local alumni, we recommend this option but ask you to also note these options.

Suggested attire for most events is business casual. For the Alumni Party, we suggest snappy casual.

The Holiday Inn-Vanderbilt is holding a block of rooms under the VU BRET Reunion rate. Follow that link or call the hotel, referencing block code VUB when speaking with reservations (615-327-4707).  Your blocked rooms will be held until May 2nd, 2017.  Please make sure all bookings have been made by that date! If you choose to bring your children to the Reunion activities, let us know and we will be happy to provide an additional boxed lunch on Friday after the Morning of Discovery at no additional cost.

 

We know a lot of the programming is more on the adult side, but the Alumni Walkabout on Friday afternoon is open to children. After you pick up your lunch on Friday at noon, there will be a time to tour the Wond’ry from noon-1, and we will have an undergraduate campus tour in the afternoon. Depending on your departmental event, it may be a relaxed opportunity to include children as well. Unfortunately, children under 18 are not allowed for a CORE Facilities tour. 

 

When you arrive, we will have discount tickets to the Adventure Science Center to be used at any time in the month of June. Please use this opportunity to visit! (Please thank alumna Tiffany Farmer, Director of Education and Community Engagement at the Adventure Science Center, for providing these discounted tickets for us!)

We are sorry to say that we cannot allow anyone under the age of 18 in to the CORE Tours during the Alumni Walkabout. There are unique liability issues that do not permit children into the labs. We appreciate your compliance and understanding!

The Vanderbilt Bookstore is now located at the intersection of West End Avenue and 25th Avenue South. 

This is the first time we have ever attempted to host a BRET Reunion, and what a great time to celebrate but for the 25th Anniversary of the Interdisciplinary Graduate Program! We are excited for this inaugural event! We hope to continue this every 5-7 years, depending on interest.
