Careers in Medicine

Dermatology is a rewarding, fun, and challenging field dedicated to the prevention and treatment of diseases affecting the skin, hair, and nails. Dermatologists enjoy caring for patients of all ages and master a combination of medical and surgical skills in order to manage both acute and chronic presentations.

The Vanderbilt Dermatology Interest Group is holding an introductory meeting this Wednesday, October 26 at 5:30 PM (location TBD). We are excited to provide you with basic information about this wonderful field as well as opportunities to explore research or shadowing. The reasoning behind decisions to do research years or away electives will also be discussed. Finally, we will review how to perform skin checks in light of our upcoming skin screening event for Vanderbilt varsity athletes on October 29.

Whether you are an M1 with an open mind to a variety of fields or you are and M2 or M3 exploring a particular interest in dermatology, we welcome all students to come to this event to learn more about what a career in dermatology entails. Please come with lots of questions!
