Soyfood consumption influences a number of human diseases including breast cancer, colorectal cancer, cardiovascular disease, and diabetes. Dr. Shu will be discussing the results and implications of her research on these topics and how they influenced the American Cancer Society’s guidelines for soyfood consumption recommendations for breast cancer survivors. 

Dr. Xiao Ou Shu, MD, PhD, MPH is an internationally-respected researcher in epidemiology and has over 20 years of experience in the field. She is currently the Associate Director for Global Health and Co-Leader of the Cancer Epidemiology Research Program at VICC. Over Dr. Shu’s career, she has played instrumental roles in establishing several invaluable epidemiology research resources, including two population-based cohort studies: the Shanghai Men’s Health Study and the Shanghai Breast Cancer Survival Study. Together, these resources have supported approximately 80 studies and have generated more than 300 publications
