Do you ever feel like you get lost when reading all the recent news on immigration because you don't know the basics of the law (Me too!)? Do you get confused about what services undocumented patients can access and what the paths to legal residence are? Come join the Latino Medical Student Association, Shade Tree Clinic, Physicians for Human Rights, and Medical Ethics, Law, and Policy to learn about the laws that affect so many of our patients every day and get your questions answered. Chay Sengkhounmany, one of Shade Tree Clinic's volunteer lawyers through our Medical Legal Partnership, will be teaching us some basics, including the questions to ask to screen patients for potential paths to become a legal permanent resident. Chay has practiced immigration law since 2004, originally with the Legal Aid Society of Middle Tennessee and the Cumberlands where she directed the Middle Tennessee Medical-Legal Partnership (MTMLP) between the Legal Aid Society, the United Neighborhood Health Services, and Shade Tree Clinic. She now runs her own firm, Sengkhounmany Law, and continues her life's work to help others navigate the immigration and naturalization process. We hope you'll join us!

Here's a video showing off some of her great work: https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=1&v=SwGbe8FCTdY
