Job Opportunity: Regulatory Science and Policy Analyst, American Association for Cancer Research, Washington DC
Position Description and Responsibilities
- Assist the Director of Regulatory Science and Policy in developing and expanding AACR’s Regulatory Science and Policy portfolio.
- Research key topics and manage regulatory science related activities for the organization.
- Help to develop AACR’s regulatory science efforts through conferences, meetings and workshops.
- Support Regulatory Science and Policy subcommittee activities, including coordinating meeting logistics, preparing background materials, drafting invitations and other correspondence.
- Help organize meetings, symposia, and briefings by identifying relevant topics, developing background materials and assisting discussions among participants.
- Work with partners both internally and externally to coordinate events.
- Monitor track and analyze key scientific, regulatory and policy issues relevant to the organization’s mission of advancing cancer research.
- Author publications for peer-review, policy statements and newsletter articles.
- Attend regulatory science and policy related conferences, meetings and other events.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director, Regulatory Science and Policy and the Managing Director, Science Policy and Government Affairs.
- Graduate degree required.
- PhD in the life-sciences with post-doctoral experience preferred.
- A detail knowledge of scientific processes associated with drug development.
- Knowledge of regulatory procedures a plus.
- General understanding of government policies, procedures and processes.
- Knowledge of FDA policies and procedures a plus.
- Experience with organizing and coordinating meetings, symposia, and briefings ranging from scientific forums to small group meetings.
- Outstanding organizational skills, ability to multi-task, follow through on projects, and work under rapidly developing deadlines.
- A self-starter with creativity, initiative and problem solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a high degree of judgment, discretion, tact, and insight.
- A willingness to work in collaborative, informal office setting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Office applications.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent grammar and spelling.
