Business Development and Marketing Intern

NueCura Partners, LLC is an angel investment company created by seasoned healthcare industry operators that focuses specifically on investments in the healthcare sector and allows participating affiliate members to make their own investment choices.

At NueCura Partners, our goal is to identify and invest in those companies that are poised to transform health care as we now know it. NueCura’s portfolio can be viewed here.

We seek to:

  • Utilize healthcare operator expertise to identify, assess, and fund early stage companies in the healthcare space.
  • Build an affiliate membership body that reflects the broad diversity of expertise and experience necessary to facilitate effective investment decisions.
  • Create an efficient mechanism for our affiliate investors to evaluate, invest, and monitor companies in our portfolio.
  • Leverage our platform’s uniqueness and flexibility to gain access to the best healthcare investment opportunities in Nashville.

POTENTIAL PROJECTS

  • Assisting in the development and expansion of a contact relationship management (CRM) database to assist NueCura in effectively growing the organization
  • Creating an online presence and developing a robust outbound marketing campaign with the goal of becoming listed on various investor sites such as PitchBook and Angelcrunch.
  • Supporting NueCura in developing a strategic marketing plan and helping to build brand awareness
  • Analyzing and building out in-house data on portfolio composition and designing marketing materials to use in formal reports and presentations 

INTERNSHIP DETAILS

  • Internship would be from appx February, 2018- May, 2018 (10-12 weeks)
  • Appx 5-8 hours per week.
  • Internship will be paid ($15/hr)
  • Experience in Business and Entrepreneurship or Marketing a plus
  • Strength in handling Excel, financial statements or Client Relationship Management (CRM) systems a plus
  • Intern will work directly under the mentorship of Tony Corley, CFO and Operating Partner (https://www.linkedin.com/in/tonycorley/)

GROWTH OPPORTUNITIES

  • Gain an understanding of how active early stage angel investors work with their portfolio companies and identify new investment opportunities
  • Make connections with business and biotech leaders in the local healthcare industry entrepreneurial ecosystem
  • Learn about different types of start-up funding and how they influence the growth of new companies in the healthcare sector
  • Attend monthly pitch meetings with investors to observe what the process looks like from the inside and learn what investors are looking for in portfolio companies
  • Assist the organization in growing while expanding knowledge in areas of business, marketing, and investment strategies

  • Creative and willing to learn new skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Interest in business and entrepreneurship in the healthcare industry

Eligibility requirements

  • Applicants must be a current Vanderbilt University PhD student or a current postdoctoral fellow.
  • All PhD students must have completed all coursework for their degree prior to the start of the internship.
  • Biomedical PhD students must also have passed their qualifying exams before the application deadline.
  • Students and postdocs may not participate in more than one internship at a time.  More than one application may be submitted at a single time, but only one position can be accepted. 
  • If you are not in a department supported by the BRET office, we will also require that you complete a form guaranteeing PI approval to participate in this program.  Please contact Ashley Brady at ashley.brady@vanderbilt.edu for more information.
