Job Opportunity: Postdoctoral Fellow, Ramachandran Laboratory, Department of Hearing and Speech Sciences, VUMC, Nashville, TN

Posted by on Monday, June 4, 2018 in Job Opportunities .

A NIH-funded postdoctoral position is available at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Nashville, TN, to study the effects of noise induced hearing loss in a nonhuman primate model. The position involves performing behavioral measurements, non-invasive electrophysiological characterization (via Auditory Brainstem Responses, Distortion Product Otoacoustic Emissions, Middle Ear Muscle Reflexes), and invasive single unit neurophysiological measurement of responses to sounds. Participation in studies of therapeutic interventions is also possible. The position begins in August 2018.

The candidate would have a doctoral degree (PhD) in Neuroscience, Biomedical Engineering, or Hearing and Speech Sciences/Audiology. Experience with two of the three measurement modalities is strongly recommended. Experience working with animals is a huge plus. MATLAB or Python programming ability is also desired. The ability to work independently and in a group setting is preferred

Compensation will be provided at the NIH salary scale for postdoctoral fellows, based on years of postdoctoral experience.

Interested candidates should send a CV and the names of three references directly to Dr. Ramachandran: ramnarayan.ramachandran@vanderbilt.edu.

All information sent by candidates and references will be kept strictly confidential. Women and underrepresented minority candidates are encouraged to apply.
