Training Opportunity in the American Heart Association Strategically Focused Research Network (SFRN) in Peripheral Artery Disease at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine / Vanderbilt University Medical Center

This training opportunity embeds postdoctoral trainees in a highly collaborative team composed of basic and clinical scientists who are addressing a significant health care problem. Peripheral artery disease affects over 200 million people worldwide. The American Heart Association has selected four network centers, each using approaches that span from molecules to man to populations, that will comprehensively address the mechanisms, individual differences, and population factors that underlie peripheral artery disease in humans. A cadre of postdoctoral trainees will work within and across these network centers where they will be exposure to a broad range of experimental approaches, professional development activities, and leadership opportunities while pursuing an individual research project within the SFRN. Training provides for exposure in areas of expertise that include basic science; translational, patient-based research; and epidemiology. Trainees have opportunities to interact with other sites in the network. Trainees have access to the professional and career development resources of the American Heart Association.
