Peter Wiebe leads a team of data scientists at Abbott Diagnostics that are improving the business of healthcare. He earned his doctorate investigating transcription factors and insulin producing cells under the direction of Maureen Gannon, PhD. in Molecular Physiology and Biophysics at Vanderbilt University in 2007. He joined Abbott Diagnostics as a technical support scientist investigating customer reported product defects, and has since held various roles and titles in R&D at Abbott, each involving a combination of science, statistics, and programming. Peter will share his experience evolving his career at a large healthcare company, how data science is transforming healthcare, and the competencies that help candidates succeed as data scientists.
