BioCentury, a global business intelligence company serving the biopharmaceutical industry and investors, is seeking a Director, Data Content to lead a team charged with expanding the creative use of data to provide unique biopharma insight and intelligence.

 

KEY JOB OBJECTIVE

The Director, Data Content’s goal is to build a sustainable operation for increasing data-driven content to support BioCentury’s reports, articles and external presentations. The position will be responsible for implementing new approaches to increase the amount and types of data content, and includes selecting and deploying new data visualization tools, optimizing the use of internal and external databases, and working with internal stakeholders to integrate the tools into BioCentury’s content management system.

BioCentury’s content analyzes trends, breakthroughs and opportunities to inform strategic business decisions among biopharma business executives and investors. The scope covers drug development, including, for example, biological targets and pathways, clinical results and regulatory designations, as well as public and private financing, M&A and deal activity for biopharma companies.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee and create data-driven content related to the biopharma industry
  • Analyze data from BioCentury’s BCIQ database or external databases to “tell a story through data” on topics prioritized by the Editor in Chief
  • Lead a team of data analysts, prioritizing resources and coverage in accordance with corporate Editorial objectives
  • Define and manage requirements for data visualization tools, working with BioCentury’s Technology, Production and Program Management & Marketing (PM&M) departments to ensure seamless integration and presentation across all digital platforms
  • Collaborate with Business Development, PM&M, Sales & Customer Success to provide data content to support corporate and commercial needs
  • Coordinate and cooperate with BioCentury’s PM&M, Business Development, and Sales & Customer Success groups to inform strategies for developing new types of data content or products that lead to growing subscriber and conference revenue, as well as targeted messaging to support those efforts

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Advanced degree or equivalent experience in biomedical science, finance or business analytics
  • Experience working in the biopharma industry or an adjacent industry, presenting data-driven analysis for intelligence reports or articles for a knowledgeable commercial audience
  • At least ten years’ experience in data visualization and presentation of complex data
  • At least ten years’ experience in navigating complex, specialized databases

Familiarity with data sources such as ClinicalTrials.gov, EDGAR, Orange Book, Red Book, PACER or PubMed is an advantage

This is a full-time position located in the U.S. The Company’s main office is in Redwood City, Calif., but working from a home office is possible. The position requires working across multiple time zones with stakeholders and staff throughout the U.S., Europe and Asia.
