The Wei lab (http://www.phenotyping.org) is looking to recruit postdoctoral fellows with experience in biostatistics, data science analysis, machine learning, genetic or clinical medicine to explore research opportunities using Electronic Health Record (EHR) data to drive therapeutic choices and improve medical outcomes. These research opportunities include (but are not limited to): precision, deep, and high-throughput phenotyping, drug repurposing analyses in EHRs, machine learning for disease outcome.

The Wei lab is part of the Center for Precision Medicine in the Department of Biomedical Informatics at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, and has received supports from multiple NIH institutes and other agents such as the American Heart Association (AHA). Postdocs in the Wei Lab are encouraged to engage with each other and the rest of the faculties and staff part of a collaborative environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Candidates should be highly motivated in biomedical research and have confidence in exploring big data to accelerate discovery.
  • Qualified candidates will hold either an MD or a PhD in biomedical informatics, mathematics, biostatistics, computer science, engineering or a related field. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Solid background in computational science with strong analytical skills
  • Or solid background in genetic and clinical medicine with data analysis or database experience
