As university researchers and academics, the policies set by a variety of government agencies have a direct impact on the work we do. To gain a deeper understanding of how the federal government influences higher education, STEM research, and healthcare, join us October 29 for a panel discussion with the Vanderbilt and Vanderbilt Medical Center Office of Federal Relations. Panelists will discuss their offices’ missions and how they advance the federal policy priorities of VU and VUMC. Topics discussed during this presentation will include:

  • What are VU and VUMC’s federal priorities?
  • What is science policy and how do we advocate for it?
  • How do we advance our federal priorities and shape public policy?

Speakers will include:
Christina West, associate vice chancellor for federal relations, Vanderbilt University
Alex Currie, senior director of federal relations, Vanderbilt University Medical Center
Heather Bloemhard, assistant director of federal relations, Vanderbilt University
Collier Roberts, communications coordinator for government relations, Vanderbilt University

This event is the final session in a series of virtual events being held in October about STEM Policy and Advocacy.
