Job Description Summary

This initiative brings together clinicians and clinical teams with research scientists to facilitate studies in several areas of immune health using cutting edge platforms. We are seeking an experienced and motivated Assistant Director of Platforms to oversee the various assay platforms part of the IH Initiative. In addition to managing the day-to-day operation of the assay platforms, the Assistant Director will help develop new and innovative platforms to integrate into the IH workflow. The assistant director will also establish/maintain tracking protocols for samples and assays to ensure an efficient management of IH data.

Manage assay platform QC. Manage and troubleshoot day-to-day assays being performed as part of Immune Health initiative. Integrate assays. Coordinate with other Immune Health team members to integrate new technology platforms with existing infrastructure. Identify new technologies for sample analyses. Work with outside vendors as well as internal UPenn scientists to identify, test, and validate new innovative platforms. Manage sample and data flow. Coordinate with existing tracking systems and database to ensure timely electronic tracking of samples and assays. Develop new tracking procedures as needed.
Master’s Degree with 5-7 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
This position requires excellent oral and written communication skills to interact with clinicians, researchers, and staff. Prior experience with IRB guidelines, policies, human sample processing, and cutting-edge immunology techniques is required. Strong problem-solving, communication, and planning and organizational skills are required.
