Curricular Practical Training (CPT) or Optional Practical Training (OPT) workshops for International Students and Scholars

Posted by on Monday, September 20, 2021 in Announcements, Workshops and Seminars .

Are you an international student or scholar who has considered working off campus or interning for a company in the United States?

If you have an interest in working off campus, please sign up for a workshop in advance. The International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) Office will require you to have completed this workshop to apply for CPT or OPT authorization.

See dates and registration for the 2021-2022 academic year here: https://www.vanderbilt.edu/isss/practical-training-workshops/

  • Curricular Practical Training (CPT) is an off-campus employment option available to F-1 students when the training experience is considered to be an integral part of the established curriculum and directly related to the student’s major area of study.  “Training” is used here to refer to paid or unpaid internships or employment.
  • Optional Practical Training (OPT): Benefit for F-1 students who wish to undertake an optional paid practical experience off-campus during their program (pre-completion OPT) or after graduation (post-completion OPT).

Please visit the International Student and Scholar Services website (https://www.vanderbilt.edu/isss/)  to learn more about this process.  The ISSS office also maintains walk-in advising hours and appointments to discuss your individual needs.
