Postdoctoral Fellowships for Successful Academic Careers in Stem Cell Biology (IRACDA at UCSC and CSUMB)

Posted by on Monday, January 1, 2024 in Announcements .

This NIH-sponsored IRACDA program provides training in rigorous research that is guided by purposeful mentoring by UCSC research mentors and complemented by career skill development through workshops in grant writing, pedagogy, leadership, the responsible conduct of research, and job application training. Fellows also engage with mentors at our partner university, California State University at Monterey Bay (CSUMB), for faculty-mentored training in teaching and mentoring.

This IRACDA program is hosted by UCSC’s Institute for the Biology of Stem Cells (IBSC) and their affiliated faculty.

Program Website:               https://ibsc.ucsc.edu/postdoc-training/iracda

Program Duration:              Postdoctoral fellows are funded for 4 program years

(1 mentor-funded year, 3 NIH-funded years).

Program contact:                Catharina Lindley, PhD (ibsc@ucsc.edu)

Applications are due in late August for a January start (some later start dates are possible). Applicants will need to identify a primary research laboratory at the IBSC and work with that PI on the research plan for the application. Please contact the IBSC if you need guidance to identify an appropriate laboratory. Additional application details are on our website.

Eligibility:  Applicants need to be eligible to receive NIH funding (US citizens or permanent residents), must have received a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent degree, and cannot have more than 2 years of prior postdoc experience by program start date.

We especially encourage applicants from groups underrepresented in biomedical research faculty.
