Navigating the Scholarly Publishing Landscape via VU Libraries

The Jean and Alexander Heard Libraries will host a pair of panel discussions on Monday, April 13, designed to support Vanderbilt graduate students, postdoctoral scholars and early career faculty as they navigate the complexities of the scholarly publishing landscape. The event will be in the Central Library Community Room with two opportunities to participate. Panel 1 will be from 1 to 2:30 p.m., and panel 2 will be from 3 to 4:30 p.m.
Participants will hear directly from leading academic publishers and journal editors and gain practical insights to help them advance their research from manuscript to publication. Editors from Springer Nature, Elsevier, JAMA Network, Sage Journals, SPIE Journals and Wiley will take part in the panel discussions and Q&A sessions.
Topics will include:
- Understanding peer-review and publishing timelines
- Selecting the right journal for your research article
- Tips for writing your manuscript
- Best practices for navigating manuscript submission and publisher workflows
Anyone at Vanderbilt interested in scholarly publishing is welcome. Please RSVP on Anchor Link, though this is not required to attend the event.
