The National Center for Health Research, a nonprofit think tank and advocacy organization dedicated to improving public health, has one fellowship position open that it hopes to fill by September 1 at the latest:
Senior Fellow: Terrific opportunity for someone with a PhD or MD who recently completed their degree, wants to move into the policy arena, or is on sabbatical. We are seeking an experienced professional with expertise in quantitative research who can interpret and "translate" research findings into compelling and persuasive information for the public, policy makers, and potential funders. Position includes federal policy work, writing for journals, working in coalition with other public health/academic researchers and advocates, and writing for a lay audience. A doctorate in epidemiology/public health, medicine, or closely related field is required. Grant-writing skills are a plus. $45,000/year starting salary for candidate with a doctorate or medical degree for full-time work, plus benefits, with exact salary dependent on time commitment.
Fellow: An MPH or ABD in epidemiology/public health, psychology, or closely related field is required. Other skills as described above. The starting salary is $35,000/year.
The ideal candidate for either position will be attentive to details, well-organized, dedicated to health issues, have excellent oral and written communication skills, and work well individually and as part of a team. This is a part-time or full-time 6-month position (at least 24 hours/week), eligible for renewal or promotion after 6 months. You will work in a beautiful office a few blocks from the White House with other outstanding fellows and senior staff.
