Eurofins Lancaster Laboratories, a nationally recognized laboratory, is searching for a Plant Molecular Biologist Post Doc to support our Professional Scientific Staffing group in Richmond, VA.
The Post Doc will work in plant molecular biology and trait development area, mainly focus on gene cloning, protein expression and targeted gene editing. The individual needs to independently carry on research in gene cloning, expression and mutant creation and evaluation to meet project goal, also needs be able to provide support for other related research. The candidate must possess effective communication skills and able to work under collaborative environment.
Plant Molecular Biologist Post Doc responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
•Work along with the Biotechnology group to explore the molecular genetics and regulatory changes in tobacco germplasm and develop input/output traits
•Explore molecular genetic and biochemical bases for plant trait development
•Initiate and conduct research experiments independently
•Apply gene cloning, gene expression and transformation techniques to meet demanding project goals
•Apply bioinformatics and molecular genetic computation techniques to meet demanding project goals
•Communicate effectively with colleagues under collaborative environment
The ideal candidate would possess:
•Extensive experience in molecular biology, gene clone/expression, gene editing and plant transformation areas
•Knowledge in plant genetics, proteomics and metabolic pathway analysis
•Strong computer, scientific, and organizational skills
•Excellent communication (oral and written) and attention to detail
•Ability to work independently and as part of a team, self-motivation, adaptability, and a positive attitude
•Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, keep accurate records, follow instructions, and comply with company policies
Basic Minimum Qualifications:
Doctorate degree in biology, molecular biology, or equivalent directly-related experience (two years of directly related industry experience is equivalent to one full-time year of college in related major)
Position is full-time, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., with overtime as needed. Candidates currently living within a commutable distance of Richmond, VA are encouraged to apply.
