We are looking for a junior (preferable first) post doc to coordinate a program of drug discovery and target validation for acute kidney injury that will start Sept 1st 2017. The candidate will work closely with a research assistant to develop a pipeline for PK based efficacy studies in different mouse models of acute kidney injury, and will evaluate candidate targets using genetic approaches in mice. The program is part of a multidisciplinary team of investigators at VUMC and the University of Pittsburgh using phenotypic screening in zebrafish and structure based modeling to develop lead compounds that prevent the progression of acute kidney injury to chronic kidney disease. The team will also interact closely with other members of the laboratory working on the role of immune cells in acute kidney injury. It is anticipated that by completion of the project, we will have identified lead candidates for pre-clinical development. Experience with mouse models, in particular survival surgery, genetics and quantitative histological analyses is essential, experience studying kidney disease in mice ideal but not essential.
Deadline: Fri, 09/01/2017
