Job Opportunity: Technology Commercialization Manager (2 positions), Indiana University

Job Summary: Indiana University’s Office of Tech Transfer is hiring two Technology Commercialization Managers, one on the Bloomington (IUB) campus and one on the Indianapolis (IUPUI) campus.

The Technology Managers will solicit, evaluate, and manage invention disclosures; and market technologies and identify potential company licensees. These positions will help secure intellectual property protection for technologies; draft and negotiate license agreements; and establish and maintain a network of working relationships with IU research faculty, IU departments, local and state economic development partners, and potential and existing company licensees.

Note: No U.S. work visa sponsorship is available for these positions. Two positions available

REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, chemistry, computer science, engineering, and/or equivalent technical field and five years of relevant experience in academia, industry, business, or law.

Possess a valid driver’s license with the ability to be insured by Indiana University.

Required Qualifications: Demonstrated ability to negotiate financial and contractual terms for intellectual property license agreements. Possess life science/engineering expertise (as applicable) and ability to handle a large portfolio of technologies and complex subject matter. Proven ability to access technology that may be subject to export control requirements which requires ability to be qualified for such access without an export control license. Exceptional analytical skills; demonstrated initiative, diligence, preparedness and independent judgment; and ability to be a strong self-motivated, creative team player with a commitment to confidentiality. Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills including a positive customer service orientation and ability to interact effectively with academic faculty, administrators, and members of industry. Strong organizational skills including ability to work with constant interruptions and consistently complete complex tasks.

Preferred Qualifications: Ph.D.; advanced degree in life sciences, chemistry, medical, engineering, and/or business; working knowledge of IP protection methods and government laws and regulations related to technology commercialization (Conflict of Interest, Bayh-Dole, Export Control).
