Description

The Association of American Medical Colleges is seeking a Director – Women in Medicine and Science 

Responsibilities:

·         Support the Group on Women in Medicine and Science (GWIMS) as Group Program Leader

o    Serves as AAMC point person on issues related to gender equity and advancement of women in academic medicine

o    Organizes and manages services and is accountable for the day-to-day operations of GWIMS

o    Sets strategy for GWIMS and acts as a project management tasks leader

o    Presents and represents GWIMS to medical schools, teaching hospitals, professional societies, federal agencies, and other education and policy groups.

o    Frequently responds to inquiries for assistance with data and education and policy development. 

o    Supports GWIMS Steering Committee, including supporting communications and face-to-face meetings

o    Collaborates with AAMC research and programs staff including the preparation of professional reports and/or research study reports. 

o    Facilitates and collaborates on development of programming for AAMC’s Annual Meeting

 

·         Serve as GWIMS Liaison to Member Organizations

 

·         Direct and serve as faculty member for professional development programs, specifically Early Women in Medicine and Science (EWIMS) and Mid-career Women in Medicine and Science (MidWIMS)

o    Reviews and updates curricula

o    Develops and analyzes meeting evaluations; applies findings to improve offerings

o    Maintains faculty/speaker pool

  • Collaborates with AAMC meetings staff on logistics, CME, etc. 
  • Collaborate on activities across AAMC, including participation in team meetings; participate in activities and projects of AAP&E as required for team effectiveness;  participate in collaborative activities across the AAMC 

Qualifications:

·         Graduate degree – Master degree or equivalent preferred and may be considered in lieu of experience

  • At least 8 years of experience. May include experience as a faculty or staff member within the academic enterprise; experience in faculty affairs in higher education; member association experience; other relevant experience. 

·         Knowledge of and credibility in scholarship in women’s studies; issues of gender equity; professional advancement of women in higher education, especially in medicine, science, or other health professions

·         Experience in professional development, educational consultation, talent management and leadership in higher education

·         Experience with association constituent engagement

·         Knowledge of the academic health enterprise

·         Strong organizational and writing skills

·         Demonstrated success in program and project development and management

·         Ability to create and monitor work plans that result in quality products completed on time and on budget

·         Ability to prioritize and balance several projects simultaneously with high-quality results 

·         Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills

·         Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications: Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Word
