Paying Uncle Sam: Understanding Taxes for Stipends, Grants, and Fellowships

Location TBD

Tuesday, January 10, 2017

6 PM – 7:30 PM

So you have a fellowship that doesn’t take out any federal tax.  Do you have to pay it during tax season?  What about the other funding that is taxed?  What tax credits and deductions should you take advantage of?  Come and have your tax questions answered by CPAs Briana Mullenax and Cindy Anderson, senior managers of Lattimore, Black, Morgan, & Cain.  They will cover issues about how to file taxes for both domestic and international students.

To help you know more about the pay or funding you have received this year, we suggest that you access C2HR to see your year to date (YTD) earnings and taxes withheld (if any) by clicking “Payment History” on the left sidebar and then viewing your last paycheck in December 2016.  While the presenters will not be able to offer individual tax advice, you may find it helpful to have this information at hand.
