Vanderbilt STEM Teaching Journal Club will be meeting Thursday, Feb. 9 from 4-5pm in MRBIV 11455. We will be joined by Jean Alley of Vanderbilt CIRTL to discuss active learning strategies that promote diversity and inclusion. The Harvard University Data Science Initiative is seeking applications for its inaugural Harvard Data Science Postdoctoral Fellows Program for the 2017-2018 academic year. The normal duration of the Fellowship is two years. Fellows will receive a generous salary as well as an annual allocation for research and travel expenses.

AMS Recruiting Volunteers for Climate Science Day on Capitol Hill The American Meteorological Society Policy Program is recruiting volunteers to participate in Climate Science Day on Capitol Hill on March 20 and 21. The purpose of the visits is to provide members of Congress the best possible access to scientific information on climate science for making policy decisions. Applications are due Feb. 10.

The Dannon Company is pleased to announce its 5th Dannon Gut Microbiome, Yogurt and Probiotics Fellowship Grant opportunity. Established in 2012, the Dannon Fellowship Grant has been expanded to include the gut microbiome in recognition of its remarkable potential on the human body. As part of their continued commitment to support scientists and advance research of the gut microbiome, The Dannon Company is offering two grants of $25,000 each to undergraduate, graduate or postdoctoral scholars to enhance their academic path.
