3-D Retina Organoid Challenge, National Eye Institute

We would like to inform you of a new challenge prize competition, the 3-D Retina Organoid Challenge (3-D ROC) that the National Eye Institute is launching in Spring 2017. The focus of the challenge is to develop 3-D human retinal organoids that recapitulate human physiology and can be used for disease modeling and drug screening. Challenges are unique from the traditional NIH grant mechanisms and bring together scientists from diverse backgrounds to collaborate and compete for $1M in prizes.

We are accepting applications for a post-doctoral fellow position in the laboratory of Dr. Christine Lovly. The Lovly Lab specializes in translational lung cancer research, signal transduction, mechanisms of adaptive and acquired resistance to targeted therapies, genomics, and personalized structural biology. Recent work in the lab has been published in high impact journals, including Cancer Discovery and Nature Medicine.

Destination Imagination (DI) (https://www.destinationimagination.org)  is a creative problem solving program designed to inspire the global community of learners to utilize diverse approaches in applying 21st century skills and creativity. K-12 students form teams and compete in various themed challenges.  Challenges are in the fields of STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics), fine arts and service learning.

The Trump administration has posted information about its Office of Science of Technology Policy internship program and is currently seeking applicants. Although applications are accepted on a rolling basis for fall, spring, and summer terms, the summer 2017 application deadline is this Wednesday, March 15. According to the website, “serving as an OSTP intern provides a unique opportunity to work closely with senior White House officials and S&T policy analysts in OSTP's policy division or on OSTP's legal team.”   ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
