The Giovanni Armenise – Harvard Foundation supports basic scientific research at Harvard Medical School and in Italy with several different programs (http://www.armeniseharvard.org for more information). Approximately 1,500 researchers benefit from the more than $70 million the NIH invests each year. The application cycle closes on November 17. In 2014 the American Society for Cell Biology, in collaboration with Beckman Coulter Life Sciences, is awarding three cash prizes ($5,000, $3,000, and $1,000) to honor academic excellence in graduate student research. Seven other finalists will receive travel awards to attend the ASCB/IFCB Meeting in Philadelphia, PA, December 6-10.
