Dr. Ogden has since returned to Nashville, but he is still one of our popular interviews loaded with advice on getting your law school degree after his PhD, what life in a firm is like, and what skills are needed to be in the patent attorney role.

 The Nashville Vanderbilt Chapter and the Nashville Entrepreneur Center are bringing together the principals of five companies who have their finger on the pulse of founding startups in Nashville. These experts will discuss presenting an idea and raising money for a new company as well as navigating the angle, private equity and the venture capital landscape. Thursday, October 8, 2015  Networking Cocktail Hour 6 p.m.  Panel Discussion 7 p.m.  Registration required by October 2.

The ASPIRE Program and the BRET Office of Career Development welcome everyone from the surrounding clinical research community as well as alumni to join us for this free NIH Clinical Center Course, Introduction to the Principles and Practice of Clinical Research (IPPCR). Vanderbilt is a registered remote webcast site for the course that will be offered on Mondays and Tuesdays, October 13-March 22, from 4:00-5:30PM.

In April, Dr. Ashley Brady joined the Biomedical Research Education and Training (BRET) Office of Career Development at Vanderbilt University as the ASPIRE Program Manager and Director of Career Engagement and Strategic Partnerships.  In this role, she will manages the design, development, and delivery of curricula and programs to provide professional skills training for biomedical sciences PhD students and postdoctoral fellows.  She is also responsible for developing and managing relationships with internal and external partners, and providing career advising services for trainees.

Check out our new Beyond the Lab video series showcasing the careers of our PhD and postdoctoral alumni! In Beyond the Lab, the BRET Office of Career Development interviews Vanderbilt PhD and postdoctoral alumni about their career path since leaving VU. Each 10-20 minute video features a different alumnus describing his or her job and providing advice for conducting a job search in that field. We will add new videos each month as they are produced.
