The Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) is hosting an annual conference about science and technology in the Department of Defense Chemical and Biological Defense Program. The 2017 Chemical and Biological Defense Science & Technology (CBD S&T) Conference will be in Long Beach, California, November 28-30, 2017. Student registration rates are available.

In search of 2017 FOCUS co-leaders

Anyone interested in gaining teaching experience should consider applying to serve as a FOCUS co-Leader. FOCUS sessions are small group literature discussions for first year graduate students. Two Co-Leaders will be paired with a faculty member and mentored through the process to teach small group discussion sections. The time commitment is every Monday from 11-12 and Tuesdays from 9-11.

This event will showcase microbes and microbe research to kids (6-14) and adults from the Nashville community. BioVU Investigator newsletter seeking volunteer writers

The BioVU team is seeking potential writers for ongoing writing opportunities for the BioVU Investigator Newsletter. The BioVU Investigator is a quarterly newsletter that reaches more than 700 faculty, students, and staff in the VU/VUMC community. Writers will be asked to contribute the feature research article summarizing a recent publication that highlights the use of BioVU. These articles are generally between 400 - 500 words in length.

The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine welcomes applications for its Christine Mirzayan Science & Technology Policy Graduate Fellowship Program. The deadline to apply is September 8, 2017, and the 2018 session will last from January 16 until April 6. The Program also offers a $9000 stipend.
