Vanderbilt-Emory-Cornell-Duke (VECD) is one of six consortia that comprise the Fogarty Global Health Program for Fellows and Scholars, which replaced the Fogarty International Clinical Research Scholars & Fellows (FICRS-F) Program in 2012. This purpose of the program is to provide mentored global health research training opportunities in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) for pre- and post-doctoral candidates from the U.S. and LMICs.

Global Health Case Competition

The annual case competition is organized by the VIGH Student Advisory Council and is designed to engage students in real-world global health challenges by introducing them to diverse factors that impact decision-making.  The goal of the case competition is to foster critical analysis and thoughtful action. Undergraduate, graduate, and professional students from across the university participate in multidisciplinary, multi-school teams to tackle a real-life global health case, working together to develop an innovative solution.

CDC Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) recruiting new class of officers

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) is now recruiting for the next class of EIS officers. The application period is open through August 17, 2015. EIS is a 2-year fellowship in applied epidemiology that offers a unique combination of on-the-job-learning and service. EIS officers, often called CDC’s “disease detectives,” conduct epidemiologic investigations, research, and public health surveillance around the world.
