{"id":11388,"date":"2019-11-12T15:16:18","date_gmt":"2019-11-12T21:16:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/medschool.prd.vanderbilt.edu\/career-development\/?p=11388"},"modified":"2019-11-12T15:16:18","modified_gmt":"2019-11-12T21:16:18","slug":"the-center-for-teaching-is-hiring-graduate-students-for-the-2020-2021-academic-year","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/medschool.vanderbilt.edu\/career-development\/2019\/11\/12\/the-center-for-teaching-is-hiring-graduate-students-for-the-2020-2021-academic-year\/","title":{"rendered":"The Center for Teaching is Hiring Graduate Students for the 2020-2021 Academic Year"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Each year the Center for Teaching (CFT) recruits a number of graduate students to support its work with graduate students as teaching assistants and future faculty members.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The CFT has several types of positions available for graduate students for the 2020-2021 academic year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><i>Graduate Teaching Fellows<\/i>\u00a0(GTFs)\u00a0engage in a variety of activities focused on the development of graduate students as teachers, including facilitation of the CFT\u2019s Certificate in College Teaching (CiCT) Program and graduate student consultations.\u00a0This is a 12-month position carrying a $30,000 stipend and graduate health insurance.\u00a0We expect to hire four GTFs next year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><i>Teaching Affiliates<\/i>\u00a0prepare and lead sessions at our annual Teaching Assistant Orientation (TAO) in August 2020, working about 70 hours total (mostly in August), and are paid $1,000 total stipend.\u00a0We expect to hire 10 Teaching Affiliates next year.\u00a0This is a useful option for graduate students who can\u2019t commit to an entire year working at the CFT.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><i>CiCT Facilitators<\/i>\u00a0will, alongside the GTFs, each lead a section of the CiCT program.
