{"id":13859,"date":"2020-12-08T13:55:02","date_gmt":"2020-12-08T19:55:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/medschool.prd.vanderbilt.edu\/career-development\/?p=13859"},"modified":"2020-12-08T13:55:02","modified_gmt":"2020-12-08T19:55:02","slug":"genentech-graduate-student-symposium-in-chemical-research","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/medschool.vanderbilt.edu\/career-development\/2020\/12\/08\/genentech-graduate-student-symposium-in-chemical-research\/","title":{"rendered":"Genentech Graduate Student Symposium in Chemical Research"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"intro\">Genentech is pleased to share an exciting opportunity for outstanding 4<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0year Ph.D. graduate students from U.S. universities in the fields of organic synthesis, chemical biology, and computational chemistry.<\/p>\n<p>Our annual <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gene.com\/careers\/university-and-early-career\/graduate-student-symposium?utm_source=facebook&amp;utm_medium=earned&amp;utm_content=article&amp;utm_campaign=%23HR%20gRED&amp;utm_term=HR&amp;sf133723327=1&amp;fbclid=IwAR0gUYHXVAqTtFy0BHXrB80OJ6P6i2-lK9t0uV6qlhkbKkoI7P-wyrgvHqU\">Graduate Student Symposium<\/a> in Chemical Research recognizes promising young scientists while highlighting career opportunities in pharmaceutical research and development.<\/p>\n<p>The two-day program, scheduled for May 2021 will be hosted jointly by the departments of Discovery and Process Chemistry.<\/p>\n<p>The virtual two-day event will include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Research award symposium, including talks from award recipients and Genentech scientists<\/li>\n<li>Keynote seminar from a leading early-career chemistry professor<\/li>\n<li>Distinguished Career Lecture from an eminent professor<\/li>\n<li>Virtual tour of the Genentech South San Francisco research laboratories<\/li>\n<li>Virtual social\/networking activities<\/li>\n<li>Honorarium for award recipients<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Apply Today:<\/h2>\n<p>Interested 4<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0year graduate students from U.S. universities are encouraged to submit a CV and short (1-3 pages) research summary\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/forms\/d\/e\/1FAIpQLScTPwE431nMh1tFcp1so5dufrEXaPxh2w8BJHNRfuoxoDXpJg\/viewform\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Applications should be submitted as a single PDF document with identifying name and institution in the file description (example: \u201cSurname-Firstname-Institution\u201d).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Applications for 2021 must be received by December 31, 2020 for consideration.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Finalists will be contacted in January 2021 and awardees will be notified in March for the spring symposium (May, 2021).
