Belmont’s department of Biology is seeking a graduate student or postdoctoral fellow to serve as an adjunct faculty position, teaching Microbiology for nurses lecture and lab (5 hrs total)\u00a0 for the fall of 2021.\u00a0 Ideally, one person could teach all 5 hours, but if necessary, they are open to splitting it up as needed. Please inquire if you are interested, details below.<\/p>\n

One section of BIO 1070 Microbiology for Nurses lecture:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
BIO 1070 Biological Science: Microbiology Lecture<\/strong><\/p>\n

3 Hours<\/p>\n

Corequisites:<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0BIO 1075<\/a><\/p>\n

An introduction to the fundamental principles of biology with an emphasis on microorganisms.\u00a0 Topics include evolution, structure and function of microbial cells, metabolic pathways, molecular and Mendelian genetics, microbial diseases and immunity, and microbial diversity and ecology.\u00a0 Three hours lecture per week.\u00a0 (For Nursing majors only.\u00a0 This course does not count toward a major or minor in biology.)<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

BIO 1075 Biological Science: Microbiology Lab<\/strong><\/p>\n

1 Hours<\/p>\n

Corequisites:<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0BIO 1070<\/a><\/p>\n

With an emphasis on microorganisms, Biological Science: Microbiology Laboratory course complements the fundamental principles of biology presented in the corresponding BIO 1070 Lecture course.\u00a0 Laboratory experiments focus on clinical interpretation, analysis, and application of scientific knowledge.\u00a0 Two hours lab per week.\u00a0 (For Nursing majors only.\u00a0 This course does not count toward a major or minor in biology.)<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

The weekly schedule would be MWF 9:00-9:50 for the lecture and Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 3-4:50 for the labs.<\/p>\n
