HSP (UCC-BRET Liaison)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dates<\/strong>: Mondays, 2:00-3:00pm: September 20, October 11, November 1, November 22, and December 13<\/p>\n<p><strong>Audience<\/strong>: Available for Graduate Students, 2<sup>nd<\/sup> year and beyond.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Application Deadline<\/strong>: noon, Monday August 30 2021<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.surveymonkey.com\/r\/BARSapp2021\"><strong>Apply here!<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Description:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The BRET Office and UCC-BRET Liaison will be offering a program developed from the NIH OITE Becoming a Resilient Scientist Series for biomedical graduate students to learn and implement strategies for building resiliency into their professional lives.\u00a0 A small group (12-15) of graduate students will meet 5 times during fall, 2021 with the facilitators to discuss a webinar viewed on their own time prior to the meeting.<\/p>\n<p>The 5 discussion group meetings will cover the following topics: (1) Intro to wellness and resilience (2) understanding cognitive distortions, imposter fears and stereotype threat (3) self-advocacy and assertiveness for scientists, (4) developing feedback resilience, and (5) maximizing mentoring relationships.<\/p>\n<p>The goals of the program are to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Provide strategies and tools to help trainees\n<ul>\n<li>increase their resilience with a specific focus on academic and research environments<\/li>\n<li>develop interpersonal and emotional intelligence skills needed for success<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Provide a place for trainees to come together to discuss\n<ul>\n<li>resilience strategies learned in the previous lectures<\/li>\n<li>work toward integrating strategies learned into school, work and life<\/li>\n<li>life, career, research, school, and pandemic stress in a facilitated setting<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>Expectations<\/em>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Required viewing of 5 webinars, made available a week before each meeting<\/li>\n<li>Required attendance at 5, 1 hr group meetings according to the dates provided above.<\/li>\n<li>Complete evaluation surveys to evaluation this curriculum.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Note: If you have already participated in the ASPIRE Modules<em>: \u00a0EQ + IQ<\/em>, <em>Maximizing Your Potential<\/em>,\u00a0or the<em> BARS Pilot program<\/em>, some of this material may be redundant or overlapping.<\/p>\n<p>Questions?
