Our December PhD Career Stories will be a panel discussing their clinical research positions at Sarah Cannon, featuring\u00a0Molly Altman, PhD,\u00a0<\/span>Shanna A. Arnold Egloff, PhD, and\u00a0<\/span>Carissa Jones PhD.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n December 10, 2021<\/strong> “Sarah Cannon<\/a>, the Cancer Institute of\u00a0HCA Healthcare<\/a>, offers integrated cancer services with convenient access to cutting-edge therapies for those facing cancer in communities across the United States and United Kingdom. Sarah Cannon\u2019s cancer programs include individualized patient navigation provided by oncology-trained nurses, ~ 1,200 stem cell transplants performed annually throughout the Sarah Cannon Transplant and Cellular Therapy Network, hundreds of clinical trials, and molecular profiling capabilities. Through its services, Sarah Cannon is providing state-of-the-art cancer care close to home for hundreds of thousands of patients, a number unmatched by any single cancer center.”<\/p>\n Molly Altman, PhD<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n Program Manager, Sarah Cannon Solid Tumor GI\/GU Program<\/strong><\/p>\n Molly Altman is a program manager for the Sarah Cannon Solid Tumor GI\/GU program. She joined Sarah Cannon in February of 2019 and her role consisted of managing a study from conception through publication. Prior to joining Sarah Cannon, Molly\u2019s most recent experience included two postdoctoral fellowships, one at Vanderbilt University in the Department of Physiology and Biology (METP program) and the other through the Vanderbilt Medical Center, Vanderbilt Center for Neuroscience and Drug Discovery. Molly received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Florida and her Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Science from the University of Georgia.<\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Shanna Arnold Egloff, PhD, MSCI<\/strong><\/p>\n Outcomes Investigator, INSITE (Innovations, Science and Technology)<\/strong><\/p>\n Shanna Arnold Egloff is an Outcomes Investigator supporting both Sarah Cannon and HCA Healthcare research programs. In this role, Dr. Arnold Egloff is responsible for development and implementation of the outcomes research pipeline across Sarah Cannon, Personalized Medicine, and HCA Healthcare Service Lines, where her research primarily focuses on improving healthcare delivery and patient outcomes.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n Dr. Arnold Egloff joined Sarah Cannon in March 2020. Prior to this position, she served as a Research Assistant Professor of Pathology, Microbiology and Immunology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and as a Research Health Scientist for the Department of Veterans Affairs.\u00a0<\/em>She received her Ph.D. in Integrative Biology from UT Southwestern Medical Center and completed her post-doctoral training at Vanderbilt. Additionally, she earned her postdoctoral Masters in Clinical Investigation (M.S.C.I.) from the Vanderbilt School of Medicine.<\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Carissa Jones, PhD<\/strong><\/p>\n Senior Program Specialist<\/strong><\/p>\n Carissa Jones, Ph.D. joined Sarah Cannon\u2019s Personalized Medicine Program in 2018 and serves as a Senior Program Specialist. Carissa interacts with physicians and research staff across the network to aid in the interpretation of next generation sequencing results and match patients to targeted therapies. Additionally, she leverages network-wide data resources for the evaluation of molecularly-defined patient populations and analysis of data-driven research projects. Prior to joining Sarah Cannon, Carissa was postdoctoral research fellow in the Molecular and Genetic Epidemiology of Cancer Training Program at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
