This internship will provide the opportunity to meet professionals in a wide variety of roles at private foundations and public charities. In identifying and setting up professional development opportunities such as workshops and mentoring circles, you will have the opportunity to enhance your own career development as well.<\/p>\n<p>The HRA is seeking an intern to help coordinate the various aspects of our new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.healthra.org\/members\/members-professional-development-program\/\">Professional Development Program. <\/a>\u00a0This intern will work closely with Maryrose Franko, PhD, Executive Director of the HRA, to facilitate the new program.\u00a0 The goal of the program is to help enhance professional skills not generally available through other avenues, that will enable staff of HRA member organizations to be more effective in their professional capacity. To do that the program will:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Increase the professional networks and mentoring opportunities for staff to foster professional advancement and increase job satisfaction.<\/li>\n<li>Provide expertise and knowledge to develop future leaders in the biomedical research funder community.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This program will offer workshops as well as identify and create other resources to achieve these goals, including setting up mentoring circles among staff of HRA member organizations. Resources and opportunities will be shared with the HRA membership and posted on HRA\u2019s website.<\/p>\n<p><strong>THE INTERN WILL:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Have the opportunity to attend HRA\u2019s two in-person meetings to participate and coordinate professional development activities as well as capture feedback from participants<\/li>\n<li>Coordinate calls, set up workshops and other activities among participants and speakers for the professional development program<\/li>\n<li>Coordinate remote (and possibly in-person) mentoring circles<\/li>\n<li>Meet and learn from professionals who have a wide variety of roles in the philanthropic community<\/li>\n<li>Meet and interact with administrators, scientists, and others whose work impacts the entire biomedical research and training community<\/li>\n<li>Gain exposure to the professional culture in a nonprofit scientific organization<\/li>\n<li>Network with scientific foundation professionals and others in the biomedical research community (researchers, government officials, communications officers, etc.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>INTERNSHIP DETAILS<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The internship will start as soon as possible and last approximately 12 months.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Except for travel to HRA meetings, the internship is fully remote (Nashville-based), part-time, paid $500\/month, approximately 2-5 hours per week.<\/li>\n<li>The participating student or\u00a0postdoc must be eligible for\u00a0ASPIRE funds.<\/li>\n<li>As part of the internship, it is hoped that the intern will attend two in-person meetings (March 21-22, 2023, in Irvine, CA and fall 2023 in Chicago, IL) to attend and help coordinate the professional development opportunities offered at the meetings.
