Are you searching for an internship for summer? Apply to the summer programs at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) provide an opportunity to spend a summer working at the NIH side-by-side with some of the leading scientists in the world, in an environment devoted exclusively to biomedical research (At the NIH “biomedical research” includes everything from behavioral and social sciences, through biology and chemistry, to physics, mathematical modeling, computational biology, and biostatistics).\u00a0To increase your chances of being offered a position, please do\u00a0four things:<\/p>\n

  1. Watch the\u00a0Applying Successfully to the NIH Summer Internship Program (SIP) Video<\/a>.<\/li>\n
  2. Read the\u00a0SIP FAQs<\/a>\u00a0carefully.<\/li>\n
  3. Read our\u00a0suggestions for creating a\u00a0successful SIP application<\/a>.<\/li>\n
  4. After\u00a0submitting your application<\/a>,\u00a0if you applied to the General SIP Program,<\/b>\u00a0contact NIH investigators with whom you would like to work and explain why you would be a good addition to their groups.\u00a0(IMPORTANT NOTE: applicants to SIP subprograms should NOT contact investigators.)<\/b>\u00a0 You can\u00a0identify NIH investigators with projects that interest you by searching the\u00a0NIH Intramural Annual Reports<\/a>. Use the text search feature to find project descriptions that contain the keywords you enter. You can also visit the\u00a0NIH Intramural Research Program website<\/a>\u00a0for a list of investigators organized by scientific focus area.\u00a0 You can then find contact information for the investigators in the\u00a0NIH Enterprise Directory<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
