About the MIND Prize:\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0The Pershing Square Foundation\u2019s (PSF) brain initiative funds cutting-edge research that revolutionizes our ability to predict, prevent, and treat neurodegenerative diseases (NDDs). Breakthroughs in basic scientific and translational research will yield critical tools for and knowledge of NDDs, including Alzheimer\u2019s Disease and Dementia, which affect millions of people worldwide.
\nThe MIND (Maximizing Innovation in Neuroscience Discovery) Prize supports and empowers early-to -mid-career investigators to rethink conventional paradigms around NDDs. Modeled after the Pershing Square Sohn Prize for Young Investigators in Cancer Research, the MIND Prize catalyzes interdisciplinary approaches and facilitate collaborations across academic departments and institutions. It fuels the groundbreaking research that will accelerate our understanding of NDDs at every level.<\/p>\n

Core Responsibilities<\/strong>
\nProgram Development and Events Management:<\/em><\/strong>
\n\u2022 Lead and oversee the implementation of the annual timeline (application\/review\/post-award)
\nand logistics of the grantmaking process for the MIND Prize and any other neuroscience
\ninitiatives.
\n\u2022 Plan and manage review of grant applications. Communicate with researchers to provide
\ninformation appropriate to the application and review process.
\n\u2022 Responsible for updating materials (e.g. agenda, research overviews, reviewer
\nscores\/comments) for grant review board meetings (annually) and advisory board meetings
\n(quarterly).
\n\u2022 Assist the President in reviewing proposals and matching reviewers with applicant proposals.
\nAggregate and analyze scores.
\n\u2022 Draft\/update and manage all aspects of the neuroscience award agreement process, including negotiations with institutions and internal counsel.
\n\u2022 Conduct monitoring of funded research, including soliciting and reviewing annual progress
\nreports, as well as oversight on tracking impact metrics (e.g. publications, grants leveraged,
\netc.), budgets and requests for no-cost extensions. Manage ongoing relationships with past,
\npresent, and potential grantees.
\n\u2022 Initiate and oversee event planning and associated with our grantee partners (reviewing
\ncontract, drafting invitations, tracking RSVPs, creating materials for, and setting
\nup\/troubleshooting). Work with President on securing and prepping any relevant speakers,
\nreviewing presentations, and approving menus\/decor.<\/p>\n

Strategy & Partnership Development<\/em><\/strong>
\n\u2022 Frontline communication with external partners, including co-funding foundations, industry,
\nmedia and other institutions regarding partnerships, meetings, events, mentorship, and
\nagreements. Represent PSF at neuroscience and related convenings, if needed.
\n\u2022 Screen incoming funding requests from organizations\/scientists, including reviewing (or triaging
\nfor review) proposals\/financial documents, communicating by email and phone with leaders of the organization, and providing feedback as necessary. Analyze and summarize promising
\nproposals for Trustee review.
\n\u2022 Provide feedback and connections to entrepreneurial grantees trying to start new for-profit
\nventures. Help grow burgeoning life science investment portfolio.
\n\u2022 Alongside the President, engage in strategic planning for current and new neuroscience and
\nrelated initiatives, as well as the development of new materials\/media.
\n\u2022 Drive program communications including summarizing proposals for distribution by the
\nPresident.<\/p>\n

Communications<\/strong>
\n\u2022 Manage MIND Prize website and social media development; alongside Program Associate and
\nPR team to draft and coordinate dissemination press releases.
\n\u2022 Lead and manage other communications efforts and projects related to the work of the
\nfoundation\u2019s neuroscience portfolio.<\/p>\n

Qualifications<\/em><\/strong>
\nCritical Skills:<\/strong>
\n\u2022 Attention to detail
\n\u2022 Demonstrated interest, understanding of, and\/or experience in life science, particularly
\nneuroscience, and academic research
\n\u2022 Oral and written communication skills
\n\u2022 Ability to multitask and juggle multiple projects
\n\u2022 Ability to synthesize and summarize information\/concepts\/proposals
\n\u2022 Project management skills<\/p>\n

Additional Qualifications\/Skills<\/strong>
\n\u2022 Master’s or PhD in neuroscience highly preferred but not required
\n\u2022 Lab experience a plus
\n\u2022 Experience with start-up or entrepreneurial ecosystem a plus
\n\u2022 Proficiency with Salesforce and grantmaking software
\n\u2022 Experience with SM Apply a plus<\/p>\n

Compensation<\/em><\/strong>
\nPSF offers a salary range of $60,000-$140,000, commensurate with experience, and a competitive benefits package.<\/p>\n
