Wood MD PhD\/ Baruch Spinoza Common Sense<br \/>\nOncology Fellowship. This Fellowship will provide hands-on methodologic training in health<br \/>\nservices research and cancer policy.<\/p>\n<p>The Fellow will be based at the Queen\u2019s Cancer Research<br \/>\nInstitute (Kingston, Canada) but will work with leaders of the Common Sense Oncology<br \/>\nmovement from around the world. Fellowship training will be consistent with the core principles<br \/>\nof the Common Sense Oncology movement (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.commonsenseoncology.org\">www.commonsenseoncology.org<\/a>).<br \/>\nApplications are invited from individuals with diverse backgrounds and experiences who have<br \/>\nrecently completed (or will soon complete) their clinical training in medical oncology.<br \/>\nCancer Care and Epidemiology (CCE) at QCRI is a group of 16 physician-scientists and career<br \/>\nscientists with expertise in cancer epidemiology, outcomes research, cancer policy, biostatistics,<br \/>\nhealth economics, and clinical decision-making, as well as medical oncology, surgical oncology,<br \/>\nradiation oncology, palliative care, and oncology nursing. CCE has three research themes: health<br \/>\nservices research, cancer policy, and global oncology.<\/p>\n<p>This is a one-year Fellowship with an expected start date of July 2024.<br \/>\nWhile the emphasis of the program is on acquisition of research and policy skills, Fellows may<br \/>\nhave the opportunity for a limited amount of clinical work to enable them to maintain their<br \/>\nclinical expertise during the Fellowship.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Requirements<\/strong><br \/>\nThe ideal candidate for this Fellowship will have recently completed (&lt;5 years) or will soon<br \/>\ncomplete clinical training in medical oncology and have demonstrated interest in principles of<br \/>\ncommon sense oncology, including &#8211; but not limited to &#8211; clinical trial design, patient-centred<br \/>\noutcomes, value of care, health equity, global oncology, and\/or shared decision-making. The<br \/>\ngoal of the Fellowship is to foster critical thinkers in oncology who can lead future CSO<br \/>\ninitiatives. Individuals from within \u2013 and outside \u2013 Canada are invited to apply.<\/p>\n<p>The CSO Fellow will have the opportunity to lead peer-reviewed publications and\/or policy papers.<br \/>\nQueen\u2019s University is located in Kingston, Canada &#8211; a historic medium-sized city on the shores<br \/>\nof Lake Ontario.
