The overwhelming majority return to their home countries to become leaders in government, academia, community activism, and the arts and science. Both graduate and postgraduate studies at accredited institutions are supported. Fellowships are for one year; some are renewable for an additional year.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Eligibility:<\/strong><br \/>\nApplicants must:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Have citizenship in a country other than the United States or possession of a non-immigrant visa if residing in the United States. Women holding dual citizenship in the United States and another country or who are permanent legal residents of the United States are not eligible.<\/li>\n<li>Hold an academic degree (earned in the United States or abroad) equivalent to a U.S. bachelor\u2019s degree completed by the application deadline.<\/li>\n<li>Intend to devote herself full-time to the proposed academic plan during the fellowship year at an accredited institution.<\/li>\n<li>Intend to return to her home country to pursue a professional career.<\/li>\n<li>Be proficient in English.<\/li>\n<li>Not have been\u00a0previous recipients of any AAUW national fellowship or grant (not including branch or local awards or Community Action Grants).<\/li>\n<li>This fellowship program does not provide funding for distance-learning or online programs or for degrees heavily dependent on distance-learning components.<\/li>\n<li>A limited number of awards are available for study outside of the United States (excluding the applicant\u2019s home country) to women who are members of Graduate Women International (see the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.graduatewomen.org\/where-we-work\/\">list of GWI affiliates<\/a>).<\/li>\n<li>Preference is given to women who show prior commitment to the advancement of women and girls through civic, community, and professional work.<\/li>\n<li>See website for additional eligibility criteria.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Award amount:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Masters\/Professional Fellowship: $20,000<\/li>\n<li>Doctoral Fellowship: $25,000<\/li>\n<li>Postdoctoral Fellowship: $50,000<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/apps.grad.illinois.edu\/fellowship-finder\/SearchResult\/Fellowship\/2641\">Apply here<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><em>If this information is out of date, please email <a href=\"mailto:bret.career.development@vanderbilt.edu\">bret.career.development@vanderbilt.edu<\/a> to let us know.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Deadline: November 15, 2024 URL:\u00a0International Fellowships \u2013 AAUW : Empowering Women Since 1881 Description: AAUW International Fellowships support for women pursuing full-time graduate or postdoctoral study in the United States who are not U.S. citizens or permanent residents.
