CFUW is committed to improving the status of women, promoting quality education, and advancing the status of women, human rights, justice, and peace. The Federation awards numerous fellowships\u00a0to Canadian women for study in Canada, the US, and elsewhere.<\/p>\n

The CFUW Fellowships and Awards funded by the CFUW Charitable Trust:\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

CFUW Legacy Award<\/strong><\/em>
\nAwarded to a woman who has completed one calendar year of a doctoral program at the time of application, and whose research\/project focuses on advancing gender equality.\u00a0Award amount<\/em>: $5,000.\u00a0The fellowship is closed for applications this year. \u00a0The next competition opens in September 2024.<\/em><\/p>\n

Dr. Margaret McWilliams Predoctoral Fellowship<\/em><\/strong>
\nAwarded to a woman who has completed at least one calendar year in a full-time doctoral program and is enrolled in full-time studies in Canada or abroad at the time of application.\u00a0Award amount<\/em>: $11,000.<\/p>\n

CFUW Memorial Fellowship<\/em><\/strong>
\nSupports master’s studies in science, mathematics, or engineering in Canada or abroad.\u00a0Award amount<\/em>: $8,000.<\/p>\n

Canadian Home Economics Association (CHEA) Fellowship<\/strong>
\nSupports master’s or doctorate level studies in Human Ecology, including Family and Consumer Sciences.\u00a0Award amount: $6,000<\/em><\/p>\n

Dr. Alice E. Wilson Awards<\/em><\/strong>
\nAwarded to mature students returning to graduate studies in any field, with special consideration given to those returning to study after at least three years. Awards are available at both master’s level and doctoral-level study.\u00a0Award amount<\/em>: $5,000.<\/p>\n

1989 \u00c9cole Polytechnique Commemorative Award<\/strong><\/em>
\nFor graduate studies in any field. The applicant must justify the relevance of her work to women.\u00a0Award amount<\/em>: $5,000 master’s level, $7,000 doctoral level.<\/p>\n

Linda Souter Humanities Award<\/em><\/strong>
\nAwarded to a master’s or doctoral student studying in the area of the Humanities including English Language and Literature, History, Languages Study, Classics, Philosophy, Film Studies, Communication Studies, and Culture Studies.\u00a0Award amount<\/em>: $6,000.<\/p>\n

Ruth Binnie Fellowship<\/strong><\/em>
\nApplicant must be enrolled in master’s studies that focus on one or more aspect(s) of the field of Home Economics\/Human Ecology\/Family and Consumer Sciences including human nutrition, food science, housing\/shelter and aesthetics, architecture, financial resource management, clothing and textiles, family relations, human sexuality, and human development. Applicant\u00a0may be studying abroad.\u00a0Award amount<\/em>: $6,000.<\/em><\/p>\n
