Spaulding\u00a0(JD &#8217;09)<\/a> here) While Jackalope beer is served throughout Tennessee, with additional distribution in North Carolina, Nevada, and Texas, the brewery and onsite taproom are <strong>performance-based culture<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>This internship will provide an introduction to commercial brewing, particularly focusing on laboratory analysis and quality control.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The intern will gain exposure and an understanding of brewery operations including:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The brew process from grain to glass<\/li>\n<li>Planning brewing and packaging schedules based on projections and current inventory<\/li>\n<li>Raw material ordering based on projected schedules<\/li>\n<li>Beer recipe writing and the research &amp; development process<\/li>\n<li>Quality control methodology<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The focus on laboratory analysis and quality control will include such duties as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Learning and conducting our quality control SOPs for product that is both in process and ready to be packaged.<\/li>\n<li>Expansion of\u00a0a quality control laboratory with new equipment and procedures, particularly implementation of our PCR equipment.<\/li>\n<li>Analyzing quality assurance data, including yeast cell viability, contaminant identification, and sensory panel results.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>INTERNSHIP DETAILS<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Internship will be 8 weeks in duration from October 21 to December 13, 2024 with the opportunity to extend pending review.<\/li>\n<li>Hours may vary, but the expectation is that the intern be onsite for at least 6-8 hours weekly.<\/li>\n<li>This is a paid internship.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Applications are due by midnight, Wednesday, October 9, Vanderbilt University PhD student or a current postdoctoral fellow.<\/li>\n<li>All PhD students must have completed all coursework for their degree prior to the start of the internship.<\/li>\n<li>Biomedical PhD students must also have passed their qualifying exams before the application deadline.<\/li>\n<li>Students and postdocs may not participate in more than one internship at a time. \u00a0More than one application may be submitted at a single time, but only one position can be accepted.<\/li>\n<li>If you are not in a department supported by the BRET office,
