These grants present an excellent opportunity for recently minted\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 1.538em;\">scholars to deepen their expertise, to acquire new \u00a0skills, to work with additional\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 1.538em;\">resources and \u00a0to make connections with others in their \ufb01elds.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Scholars will be expected to engage with graduate students in the host country and to be involved with host university training in cutting edge research in their specializations. In addition to their primary research or teaching activities, grantees will be asked to give public \u00a0talks, mentor students, and otherwise engage with the host country academic community.<span style=\"line-height: 1.538em;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>In order to better accommodate the interests and commitments of early \u00a0career scholars, the Fulbright Program is o\ufb00ering an additional application cycle for a select number of 2015-2016 postdoctoral awards with the later deadline of January 15,\u00a0<span style=\"line-height: 1.538em;\">2015. \u00a0The core Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program competition for 2016-2017 will open\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 1.538em;\">in February 2015 \u00a0and will include additional opportunities for postdoctoral and early\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 1.538em;\">Ph.D. or equivalent professional\/terminal degree as appropriate.
