The U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Office of Science, along with the National Science Foundation (NSF) and the other participating agencies in the National Science and Technology Council’s (NSTC) Committee on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Education (CoSTEM), have launched a pair of web-based portals for searching Federally-sponsored opportunities in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) that target undergraduate students (stemundergrads.science.gov) and graduate students (stemgradstudents.science.gov<\/strong>).<\/p>\n

The two portal sites, hosted in collaboration with Science.gov, provide a single source of information for both students and universities interested in Federally-sponsored STEM education training and funding opportunities.<\/p>\n

Student users can search the portal for a range of opportunities that they can apply for directly, such as research internships and fellowships.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Likewise, academic institutions can search for Federal funding opportunities to establish innovative training programs for undergraduates or graduate students.<\/p>\n

Site users are directed to the Federal sponsor’s program website for the official information about the opportunity and further information such as eligibility and how to apply. Federally sponsored opportunities were provided by representatives on CoSTEM’s Federal Coordination in STEM Education Subcommittee (FC-STEM) Interagency Working Group (IWG) for Undergraduate STEM Education (Co-chaired by NSF’s Susan Singer and DOE's Jim Glownia ) and the FC-STEM IWG for Graduate STEM Education (Co-chaired by NSF’s Dean Evasius and NIH's Kay Lund).<\/p>\n

This accomplishment was recently highlighted by the Director of the Office of Management and Budget in a White House blog post (https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/blog\/2016\/03\/30\/delivering-results-american-people<\/strong>).<\/p>\n
