Sessions will break down the process of networking into approachable steps, provide real-world examples, and peer feedback.&nbsp; The workshop will cover networking basics, etiquette, elevator pitches, navigating conversations, event preparation, identification of key individuals, and follow-up.&nbsp; The workshop will culminate in a real-world exercise in networking &#8211; group attendance at the annual Life Science Tennessee conference, LST|CON, on November 3, 2016 in Nashville.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Director<\/strong>: Ashley Brady, Ph.D.,&nbsp; Assistant Professor of Medical Education and Administration &amp;&nbsp;Director of Career Engagement and Strategic Partnerships, BRET Office of Career Development<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"\/career-development\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/public_files\/ASPIRE%20Networking%20Pacing%20Workshop_FINAL_0.pdf\">Syllabus<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Time:<\/strong> 4&nbsp;1-hour sessions + conference attendance (5th session is optional);&nbsp;Thursdays, 9-10,am, **except, Sept 22,&nbsp;10-11am&nbsp;<br \/>\n(exact dates: Sept 22, Sept 29, Oct 13, Oct 20, Nov 3, and optional:&nbsp;Nov 10)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Location:<\/strong> Light Hall 350<\/p>\n<p><strong>Eligibility:<\/strong> &nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>1) Graduate students (4th year+) or postdocs in the biomedical sciences (BRET) program<br \/>\n2)&nbsp;Must be able to attend LIST|CON on Nov 3, 2016 in Nashville.&nbsp;(free to participants, provided they present a poster at the conference reception (time TBD).&nbsp; Life Science TN membership not required, and a poster from a prior meeting is fine.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Class size<\/strong>: up&nbsp;to&nbsp;12&nbsp;graduate students and postdocs<\/p>\n<p><strong>Registration requirement<\/strong>: complete&nbsp;application form linked below, &nbsp;which requests a&nbsp;4-6 sentence statement of&nbsp;interest<\/p>\n<p><strong>Registration deadline<\/strong>: Noon, Thursday, September 15,2016<\/p>\n<h4><a href=\"https:\/\/www.surveymonkey.com\/r\/NetworkingFa2016\">REGISTER HERE<\/a><\/h4>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The ASPIRE Networking Pacing Workshop is a series designed to prepare attendees to incorporate networking into their everyday activities.
