We anticipate all seminars for the academic year 2022 – 2023  to be in-person in 1220 MRB III. Please check the CDB Calendar and this page regularly for updates.

Monday’s weekly seminars are on cutting-edge topics in Cell or Developmental Biology, as well as Stem Cell and Epithelial Biology. Visiting speakers are invited from a variety of institutions through-out the US.  The seminar takes place almost every Monday during the Fall and Spring semesters.

2022 Seminars

October 3: Vladimir Gelfand, Ph.D., Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine presents: “Nonconventional functions of motor proteins in Drosophila”Dr. Gelfand is a Leslie B. Arey Professor of Cell, Molecular, and Anatomical Sciences, and a Professor of Cell & Developmental Biology. He is hosted by Irina Kaverina. This will be an in-person seminar in 1220 MRB III. October 17: James Johnson, Ph.D., University of British Columbia presents: “Dynamic changes in beta-cell workload as a driver of resilience to stress and cell fate decisions” Dr. Johnson is a Professor of Cellular & Physiological Sciences.  You can follow Dr. Johnson @JimJohnsonSci and check out his lab at # Insulin production with beta-cells modulates their survival and growth. He is hosted by Guoqiang Gu. October 24: Sabrina Spencer, Ph.D., University of Colorado-Boulder presents: “Proliferation-quiescence decisions in normal and cancer cells”  Dr. Spencer is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biochemistry. She is hosted by Marija Zanic. This seminar will be an in-person seminar in 1220 MRB III. Flyer
