Sonic hedgehog signaling in development and cancer.
Lab Website

Research Description

Our laboratory is interested in the function of signaling mechanisms in brain development and cancers. We study how secretion and transport of the Sonic hedgehog protein (Shh) are regulated. We also study the role of Shh signal in the genesis of the functional adult brain, and how Shh signal aberration drives formation and maintenance of cancers. We use cutting edge techniques and multidisciplinary approaches that include the utilization of targeted genetic manipulation, live cell imaging, gene expression profiling and orthotopic grafting of tumor cells, combined with state-of-the-art localized stereotaxic injection system for in vivo gene delivery and manipulation.
